Poogan’s Porch offers a unique approach to Lowcountry cuisine. We’re widely known for our biscuits, brunch, She-crab soup, and heaping helpings of hospitality! And, of course, pooches are always welcome at Poogan’s Porch.
Established in 1976.
From the moment you step into the parlor of Poogan’s Porch, there is a pervasive sense of history. The knotted floors, the dual staircases, and the double front porches all reflect the Charleston of days gone by. Poogan’s Porch was originally a spacious home erected in 1891. By 1976, the character of the neighborhood had changed to allow for the conversion of the house into a restaurant. The last residential owners sold their home and moved away, leaving behind a neighborhood dog that had grown accustomed to care. As far as the little dog was concerned, Queen Street was his terrain. He was a neighborhood fixture, graciously accepting scraps from every family on the block. He was no purebred puppy; he was a good ol’, down-home Southern porch dog – and the porch at 72 Queen was his favorite. His name was Poogan. From his perch on the front porch, he presided over the renovations. When we opened our doors for business, he greeted the first guests warmly. He became an institution.
There's a patio in the front that's accessible, and the tables are not high.
