Opening its doors May 2019, Burkes Market & Fine Spirits is a restored local gem offering traditional fresh Italian provisions in a modern, beachside setting.

Owner & Founder, Jackie Burke spent her summers along the eastern region of the Italian coast where rolling hills met crystal clear water along the coastlines of the Adriatic Sea. Le Marche, Italy: the home of her grandmother and an elegant beach culture that served as the inspiration for Burkes Market.

Many of those summer days were spent alongside her grandmother, preparing the fragrantly delicious recipes from generations past in the basement of the family’s countryside home.

An extensive background as a registered nurse in the world of nutrition has led Jackie to find a sweet spot in the culinary world focused on accentuating the traditional Italian style with healthy and nutritionally balanced ingredients.

After decades of family summers and their long history living in Bay Head, they decided the quaint seaside town would be the perfect setting for a modern specialty food market.

The century-old building on Main Ave, formerly known as Curtis Market, was the ideal location reinvent as their own. While the market has been the center of Bay Head for over 100 years, the family completely revived the interior with a fresh and unique preppy-Italian style.

From sweets, treats and gifts at the Candy Cabana to our Italian espresso and homemade gelato bar, a trip to Burkes Market is an experience your whole family will enjoy.
