Another overly crowded Jersey food festival…
1. Food is hit or miss depending on which vendor you choose. In terms of the cooked foods, you can’t go wrong with the steamed lobsters, corn on the cob, potatoes/fries, and any of the fried foods. The jambalya at the cajun food stand was horrible and cannot believe I paid $8 for that bowl. However, the alligator sausage from that same cajun food stand was quite good and unique. In terms of raw, the raw clams and oysters were on point. Humongous, super fresh, and meaty.
2. Wait times: depending on what time you arrive and which food stand you choose, you’ll probably be waiting for a while. I suggest you arrive earlier to avoid longer lines.
3. Parking: all street parking/local parking. Once again, I’d suggest coming early to find parking and save valuable time for finding food.
4. Seating: There’s picnic tables on the street that’s blocked off, but those fill up quick. Sit along the boardwalk, or just bring beach chairs and sit on the sand to enjoy your food.
5. Bathroom: there’s bathrooms along the boardwalk so don’t worry about using Port-a-potty. They keep the restrooms clean too which is a big plus.
6. Payment: BRING CASH!!! There’s ATMs within the festival vicinity but save yourself any ATM fees and have cash ready upon arrival.
