Established in 1914.
Entertaining the Community with Stage and Screen since 1914, the Somerville Theatre is a first-run movie theater. It also rents out its space for concerts and events, though the theater does not produce live shows itself. The main theater of 900 seats features Dolby EX Digital sound and has 24 surround speakers, and is one of the few theaters in the country able to show 70mm film presentations. The other 4 auditoriums are smaller but funky, with notable “Owl” light sconces on the walls. Charging around 20% lower than its competitors, the Somerville Theatre remains one of the last neighborhood theaters in continuous operation for almost a century.
